What the game is
Vicious Seas is an original pirate adventure game on Roblox, made by Oracis Engineering LLC. Players create a captain, explore islands across the sea, sail and fight with ships, take on sea creatures and raiders, train fighting styles and weapons, go fishing, diving and treasure hunting, and team up with friends. It plays on computer, phone and tablet, with touch, keyboard and gamepad. It is open to all players on Roblox.
Content and age guidance
Roblox gives every game a content maturity label from the developer’s answers to its content questionnaire. Vicious Seas is labelled Mild. Our answers were:
- Violence: repeated, mild. Fantasy combat with swords, fists, cannons and magical powers against pirates and sea creatures. No blood or gore.
- Fear: occasional, mild. Some creatures, storms and dark places are meant to be a little spooky.
- None of: blood, crude humour, strong language, gambling, paid random items, paid item trading, sharing photos or videos, or player-made content shown to others.
Roblox shows this label on the game’s page, and its parental controls let you choose which content labels your child can play.
How the game keeps players safe
- Fighting other players is opt-in. Player-versus-player combat is off until a player chooses it, and open fights need both players to have chosen it. The starting island, Anchorfall, is safe from end to end, as are the towns, harbours and havens. The choice resets every time a player rejoins.
- Filtered text. Chat is Roblox’s chat, filtered by Roblox. Any text a player types that another player can see in our own screens is checked by Roblox’s text filter first; if the filter cannot check it, it is not shown.
- No paid random items. There are no loot boxes, spins, chests, keys or paid rerolls. Everything for sale gives a fixed, known thing.
- Safe trading. Players can trade only items they earned in the game. Gold and anything bought with Robux cannot be traded. Both players must accept and then confirm the exact offer, and any change to either side starts the confirmation again.
- No favourites on public servers. Our team cannot hand out gold or passes on public servers; those gifts work only in private servers.
- No personal information. The game never asks for a real name, age, email address, location or photo.
Spending
Vicious Seas is free to play. Optional purchases are made through Roblox with Robux, Roblox’s virtual currency. What is for sale: looks and cosmetic items, timed boosts, game passes and certain powers at a fixed price. Each one says what it gives before you buy.
- Roblox’s parental controls let you set monthly spending limits and get notified of spending.
- Robux and items have no cash value. Refunds follow Roblox’s rules; ask Roblox Support about a charge.
- If something bought did not arrive in the game, write to us with the Roblox username and we will look into it.
Chat and friends
Chat, friend requests and voice are Roblox features, controlled by Roblox account settings and parental controls. From the Roblox parental controls you can turn chat off or limit who your child can chat with.
Your child’s data
The game saves your child’s game progress against their Roblox user id, inside Roblox, and nothing else. To have it deleted, email support@viciousseas.com with your child’s Roblox username. Our Privacy Policy has the details.
