What it lets you do differently
Howl first: the next bite stuns long enough for the pounce.
Become the brine hound: slate fur, a finned spine and lamplit eyes. In that shape you bite, pounce and howl, hit harder and shrug off a little damage.
Beast fruits give a sea-creature form, taken on and let go at will. Its form is Hound Shape.
Moves
- Rending BiteKey Z
- Jaws snap shut on whatever is in front of you.
- Tidal PounceKey X
- You surge forward low and fast, bowling over everything in the path.
- Abyss HowlKey C
- A howl from the deep that rattles every foe in front of you in place. Landing it readies your Z to hit harder.
- Hound ShapeKey V
- Take the brine hound's shape, or let it go.
- Pack FrenzyKey F, its signature
- You tear through a long line of foes like a whole hunting pack.
Passive: Pack Instinct
You fight like a hunting pack: your strikes and heavies deal 5% more damage.
Awakening
Brinehound Awakened, the Leviathan Hound. The hound remembers what it hunted in the deep: its jaws, surge and howl grow, and it learns the Maw.
Its awakened move, Leviathan Maw: A ghostly leviathan's jaw opens around you and snaps shut on everything in front.
How to get the Brinehound Fruit
- The fruit dealer. The keeper of the Tidemark Shrine stocks 4 fruits at a time, changed every 4 hours; when this one is in, it costs 90,000 gold.
- Found in the world. Fruits appear on the islands for whoever finds them first.
- Rolled when you play. A chance of it from Captain Brakka, the Bellfounder, the Gloamhand or Mawreth when they fall (0.75%), a fruit tree, anywhere in the world (0.6%), a Saltrot raider (0.02%) and the Tidemark Shrine in Anchorfall, each tide (0.4%).
- In the store. Sold at a fixed, shown price. Nothing random is sold, and its awakening is never for sale.
The price of eating it
The sea refuses you. You sink instead of swimming; a Human eater slowly runs out of breath underwater and drowns. A Fishman eater still breathes, but sinks all the same. Every Relic Fruit carries the same price: mind the rail.
