What it lets you do differently
Slam into a swing and take a third less.
Become the shellback: a reef-crusted dome of shell, a beaked face and two crushing claws. Slow and very hard to hurt, you crush, barrel through foes and shake the ground.
Beast fruits give a sea-creature form, taken on and let go at will. Its form is Shell Shape.
Moves
- Claw CrushKey Z
- Heavy claws clamp down on whatever is in front of you.
- Carapace RushKey X
- You tuck into your shell and barrel forward through the crowd.
- Tideshell SlamKey C
- You rear up and slam down; the ground ripples outward. You take less damage while you cast it.
- Shell ShapeKey V
- Take the shellback's shape, or let it go.
- Reef HurlKey F, its signature
- You tear up a slab of reef and hurl it at a spot far ahead.
Passive: Barnacled
Barnacles crust your skin even out of shape: you take 4% less damage.
Awakening
Shellback Awakened, the Living Reef. Coral blooms across your shell: heavier claws, a longer rush, and a quake that splits the reef.
Its awakened move, Reefquake: You heave up and crash down; coral spears burst from the ground all around you.
How to get the Shellback Fruit
- The fruit dealer. The keeper of the Tidemark Shrine stocks 4 fruits at a time, changed every 4 hours; when this one is in, it costs 45,000 gold.
- Found in the world. Fruits appear on the islands for whoever finds them first.
- Rolled when you play. A chance of it from Captain Brakka, the Bellfounder, the Gloamhand or Mawreth when they fall (0.9%), a fruit tree, anywhere in the world (0.75%), a Saltrot raider (0.04%) and the Tidemark Shrine in Anchorfall, each tide (0.5%).
- In the store. Sold at a fixed, shown price. Nothing random is sold, and its awakening is never for sale.
The price of eating it
The sea refuses you. You sink instead of swimming; a Human eater slowly runs out of breath underwater and drowns. A Fishman eater still breathes, but sinks all the same. Every Relic Fruit carries the same price: mind the rail.
